“Living Our Green Life” is the Cincinnati Park Board’s newest community program to provide useful tips, conservation education and practical resources to enable the citizens of Cincinnati to live a healthier, “greener” and more economical lifestyle every day. Green living is essential to the quality of life in Cincinnati and it is the Park Board’s mission “to conserve, manage, and sustain parks natural resources and public greenspaces for the enrichment of the Cincinnati community.”
Can Parks inspire you to go on a 1,000 lbs. carbon diet? Or, will you heed the warning to watch out for the electric-sucking vampire? Come to the Krohn Conservatory for one of the “Mayor’s Green Cincinnati Lecture Series” to find out how to have a greener garden. Nurture a passion for nature, bring your family to a free Explore Nature program about warblers and wildlife. In our Parks, on the web, over the air waves and in print, look for “Living Our Green Life”— to discover how easy it is to be green!
Cincinnati Parks engaged Mayor Mark Mallory’s “Green Cincinnati Initiative” in 2006 and has been using green technology to be more efficient as well as environmental! From installing solar panels and a wind turbine for a greener administration building in Eden Park, to using “Big Belly” solar-powered trash cans to reduce trash collection costs and pollution, Cincinnati Parks has been busy implementing the Mayor’s Green Cincinnati initiatives.
